Wigan - How much Longer for Hutch?

When Paul Jewell resigned as manager of Wigan Athletic back in May I was one of those supporters who wasn`t upset by this.

I thought that Jewell had taken the club as far as he could, things were getting a bit stale and a change would do both parties the world of good

I believe that Jewell will go on and have success somewhere else and good luck to him he is a Latics Legend.

I thought this is a super opportunity for the club to bring in an experienced Premiership manager and push on to the next level

Lets forget about fighting relegation, lets look to the future and challenging for some honours.

Wrong, within 3 hours of finding out Jewell had gone I found out Hutch had taken his place.

Why?

Chris Hutchings only experience of managing any club was a total failure, he is not a manager.

But I thought lets give him a chance he is now our boss and we need to back him 100% after all he was quick to bring players in with Bramble and Sibierski signing within days of Hutch`s appointment.

On reflection maybe these two signings were 'sorted` before Hutch was appointed

The pre-season was a pretty dour affair to be honest even though we were undefeated, no home games and no sparkling football against what could only be described as mediocre teams.

Hutch promised that Baines would not be sold until a replacement was found

He forgot to tell us it wasn`t up to him and Baines went, along with three forwards, McCulloch, Camara and Folan without being replaced

The season started as expected with a defeat at Goodison, but then two home victories against Middlesbrough and Sunderland and an away draw at West Ham changed the mood to optimism but hid the fact of a poorly organised team

The only other game that we have not lost since the season started was a lucky home draw with Fulham six games ago

Now to lose six games on the trot is not good, but to lose six games on the trot and look like you wont win again is bad

People will say this is the Premiership, I know it is and we are a Premiership club, losing six games on the trot would not be acceptable to me what ever division we are in

We should be able to compete with the teams in our division or whats the point of being here

Hutch doesn`t seem to be too bothered, I hear him say 'Im enjoying it`, 'I take the positives`

Well Hutch I am pleased you are enjoying it because I aint and as for positives, where are they?

It was a huge mistake making Chris Hutchings manager of Wigan Athletic, there is still time to rectify that mistake but time is running out.
