Royle next Wigan Boss

There are strong rumours circulating that former Everton, Oldham, Manchester City and Ipswich boss Joe Royle will be named as the new manager of Wigan Athletic within the next 48 hours.

It is understood that Paul Jewell has turned down the opportunity to return to the club where he had 6 years of unrivalled success leaving the way clear for Royle to step into the fold

Royle knows Latics general manager John Benson and he is admired by Latics chairman Dave Whelan, he is also the only confirmed applicant for the job and he has publicly expressed his desire to manage at the JJB

Whatever happens the powers that be need to act quickly, we are in free fall at the moment and it is going to take a strong character to turn round the clubs on the field fortunes

Is Joe Royle the man for the job?

Still no sign of a new manager at the club. I would have thought you would have appointed by now.
