Wigan Latics look for Brucie Bonus

Wigan Latics look for Brucie Bonus

Birmingham City manager Steve Bruce is the red hot favourite to take over the managerial post at Wigan Athletic that was left vacant by the sacking of Chris Hutchings last week

Bruce has already had one stint at the helm of the JJB, a short 6 week stint back in 2001 following the sackings of Bruce Rioch and Colin Greenall, before departing for Crystal Palace

Birmingham are locked in a relegation battle just like the Latics, so why would the former Manchester United defender jump out of the proverbial pan and into the fire?

Birmingham are currently in the midst of a take over with the incoming owners thought to be wanting to bring in a new manager, this could be a convenient move for all parties concerned

Latics have asked Birmingham officially for permission to talk to Bruce and if all goes to plan he could be installed in his new office early next week and not only would Bruce be in familiar surroundings but he would re-acquaint with some old chums

John Benson Wigan general manager was Bruces general manager at Birmingham for four years also Emile Heskey and Mario Melchiot played under Bruce at St.Andrews and Bruce tried to sign Paul Scharner back in 2005

Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce today completed the signing of……has a nice ring to it, wouldn`t you agree?

it is a convenient move for everyone if birminghams new owners dont want him they dont get bad press for sackin him you get the man you want and he gets tomanage in the premier league tbh though i reckon they have a better squad than yours but then again he may well have a chance to bring in some new blood in january!

Brucie bonus!! You would probably have been better with Forsyth, then again he would never be able to say "what do points make"
