£15 Million Brucie Bonus

Steve Bruce is the new Wigan Athletic manager and he has received the pledge of £15 million to spend in the January sales in a bid to keep the Latics afloat in the Premiership

Dave Whelan, Latics chairman, confirmed that Bruce is the new manager and said 'under Steve Bruce we know Wigan will be a fighting team.

What he earns he deserves, he will keep us out of relegation problems and all the fans will be delighted we've got him.'

Whelan also declared his intent to bring in Eric Black to be Bruces assistant, "we would like Eric Black to come as our assistant manager" said Whelan,"

I am confident we will get him but I understand he has got to stay there for a week or a fortnight. But he will be coming to us.'

With a reported transfer budget of £15 million it is hoped that Steve Bruce will bring in some quality this January to get the Latics back on the road to survival
