Ugly Bruce Wants Ugly Latics

Steve Bruce looks set to make the Wigan Athletic as ugly as himself in order to survive in the Premiership.

Steve Bruce said: 'I have asked the players to play with a bit more intensity than they have been. They will work hard and that is what I demand.

'A team does mirror the manager and any of mine will give it everything they have got.

Wigan is a working-class town and we've got to be like that.

'We've got to be realistic. The Premier League is unforgiving, we know who the top eight will be, the ones in the middle and the ones at the bottom.

'What we have got to do is try to be top of the bottom eight teams in it and then push up. But it takes years to do that.

Bruce likes his teams to play a dogged 4-5-1 formation but the Latics are used to playing the traditional 4-4-2 that has served them well over the past ten years

What ever the formation lets hope that there are some more points on the board come 5 pm this evening and the start of the climb out of the bottom three can begin
