Sprayzen sends us his thoughts on a fantastic win seen from upside down
FULLTIME WIGAN WIN A GAME AND SCORE 5 GOALS!!!!!!!
It was ugly in the end but none the less a win is a win and that on the back of the City draw will build alot of confidence
Bruce said this month is going to be telling and well already he has produced a great result against City and now a win against Blackburn 2 top 10 teams which is an outstanding result
On other results we are now only 2pts away from getting outside the red zone and with Fulham to play next week who knows anything could happen
Negatives for the match
- Heskey getting injured and not cited on the bench doesn't look good, looked like an ankle injury just hope it isn't serious as it looked
- Letting in 3 goals in any game isn't good but giving up a 3 goal lead is very poor especially how we did it
- Kirkland needs to come off his line and stop the angles, he sits on his line to much and is a sitting duck
- Boyce and Bramble both had games they would want to forget, maybe Bramble is trying to hard after his big mistake against City hopefully he is back to his best next week
- Aga positional play, caught off side several times and looked out of sorts could be because he has been injured and hasn't been training like the rest of the players but none the less needs to get it sorted ASAP especially with Heskey injured
- Our discipline, giving away alot of yellow cards some for very poor defensive lapses needs to be phased out
Positives
- Taylor brilliant, the move to make him our key playmaker with Koumas on the bench won us the game without a doubt, hopefully there is room for both him and Koumas in the starting side because our attacking options then will increase 2 fold
- Bent scored a hat-trick and looked like a striker who can score you the 10-15 goals a season, speed, dominated the high balls and is a pressence like Heskey up front, really in his prime at the moment
- Valencia down the flank, we know he has the skills but he is starting to get some consistant game time and is starting to play consistantly, we need to keep this kid because he is the real deal
- Scoring 5 goals, can't remember when was the last time we did that
- Showed great resolve by leading 3-0, giving it away and then fighting to get the lead again, Bruce wanted a fighting team and it looks like on this result he has one.
- Most important positive is that we won the game, who cares about how we did it, plain and simply put we did it and broke the drought, Bruce looks like he has given us the influence we needed and from kickoff we looked interested and a win looked on the cards
- I don't care what people say but the long ball to Bent and Heskey is working up front, both have a dominating pressance and even when they have 2 defenders on them usually get a decent touch away
Its 4am here and time to go to bed, on cloud 9 at the moment on the boys effort, have to be up in 3hrs as well lol oh well it was well worth the lack of sleep to watch the match this morning
