Fulham 0-0 Latics HT summary

Fulham 0-0 Latics HT summary

Our Australian reporter and super fan sprayzen sends his half time thoughts on the game at the Cottage

Half Time Summary

Wigan in the 1st half played like a team that hadn't won away and for some time, our defence was cut to shreds and Wigan are lucky not to be down by 2-3 goals at the break

No Yellow or Reds given so far in the game and it has been a clean battle with no malicious tackles occuring

Wigan moving forward took a while to warm up and the halftime break couldn't have come sooner

Bramble was brilliant at the back and saved us with some great dives and his lone stance on the goal line with a header was brilliant, Scharner also in his new role at Center Half also looked good he has more urgency and is closing down the play.

we have no pressance in the middle of the park and only look dangerous when we go wide to Valencia whos speed is causing havoc and when Taylor gets the ball and is able to cross it into the box

Fulham have had several point blank shots and totally dominated the half, there best chance from from about 10-20yrs outside the box when Konchesky hit the top of the wood work, kirkland was beaten well and the shot would of been on the highlight reals had it gone in

Wigans best chance was from a cross from Taylor which missed everything but was a bullett pass like his free kick last week, the goal was open and no Wigan player was able to get anywhere near it unfortunatley

Wigan did start looking more composed very late in the half but that might have been due to Fulham looking more tired and deflated more than anything else, we look like compressing our defence allowing/ encouraging Fulham to run wide, whilst they have done this few times Fulham have looked good on each occasion

We need more direct play and I can't recall once in the game when Bent actually had the ball for more than 3 or 4 plays let alone longer than 1 second up front (same applies for Aga) which indicates the ball isn't getting to these guys

Brown needs to stop taking shots, his role is midfielder and he needs to feed this on to players in better positions who might be able to convert the chances given to them, he really is looking selfish when he has the ball.

Best for Wigan Bramble, Scharner, Valencia and Taylor

Nest for Fulham Davis, Davies and Konchesky
Worst for Wigan Brown, Killer and Aga

Worst for Fulham Kamara by a mile missing to many clear chances and indicision has costed Fulham a deserved lead
