An antipidean view

An antipidean view

I am happy with the draw given how poorly we played in that 1st half and in parts of the 2nd

Bramble and Scharner were great at the back

Bent when given half a chance made it a full chance, Sibs also looked sharp and hopefully we start with him next match and get Heskey off the bench if he isn't 100% fit

I think we have seen Agas last game for us, whilst he has speed he just doesn't use it correctly and his runs are never timed, he lacks size and height and won't cause any trouble in the EPL

On to my Wigan player of the match and whilst Bramble saved us at least 5 times during the match including clearing up Kirkland no shows twice the best player on the park for us was Valencia.

I'm a massive fan of this kid and so is Bruce and he is just starting to get a period of injury free time and is showing his stuff for the full 90mins

Granted he should have scored instead of touching it the extra time and blowing the chance aside from that his game was all class and he dominated everytime he got the ball be it on the flanks or in the middle of the park

On the other side of the coin our midfield is in tatters, Taylor and Valencia are the answers out wide I think but in the middle Landzatt and Brown well are non exisitant

Landzatt I think touched the ball maybe 2-3 times and that was from the 80th min onwards, in defence I didn't even see him.

Brown on the other hand gives silly penalties, takes stupid selfish shots and creates nothing, his defence also is questionable and he definatley is unable to dominate in the middle of the park

Our back 4 did well today I thought, it was the middle of the park that failed us yet again.

Bruce has had a great effect on the team under his guidance we have won 1 game, drawn 2 and lost 1.

With Melchiot, Heskey, Koumas due back next week and with the return of Sibs up front we are only going to get stronger add possible recruitment in Jan on top of that and we might be ok, the performance whilst not flash by Wigan was definatley one of a team fighting to survive.

DW said he wanted a fighting team, Bruce said he could do this, today we were still running at the end and held up ok in the scrap.

If we can sort out the middle of the park then not only will defence not be under constant bombardment, better balls will be delivered to the forwards and Taylor/Valencia will have more room to move in out wide
