Both the Wigan Athletic and Aston Villa managers spoke to the press after the game yesterday
Lets see what they had to say and what their thoughts were on a great afternoon of entertainment:
Steve Bruce
'Both sets of players deserve a pat on the back for the effort and endeavour they've put in.
'They were atrocious conditions out there. There is nothing worse than that, with horrible, swirling wind, lashing rain and a poor pitch.'
'For an hour we've done very, very well, but we sort of ran out of juice slightly towards the back end of the second half
'Villa got the little breaks that we didn't. We were looking for a second goal and had two or three half opportunities.
'Overall, though, I think we deserved something out of the game.'
'A month ago when we took over we were in danger of getting adrift and were only two points ahead of Derby.
'We have given ourselves an outstanding chance going into the second half of the season.
'We have played four of the top 10 teams here and we have managed to beat a couple of them, and we should have got something today.
'We are making progress and as long as we keep the spirit good and stay lucky with few injuries, then I think we've got an outstanding chance.'
Martin O'Neill:
'That was one hell of a win,"
"I thought it was as good a win as any this season. I don't mean in terms of the whole performance because in the first half I thought we were a bit stodgy and didn't cause them enough problems.
'But we came out in the second period and applied ourselves superbly to the task and thoroughly deserved to win the game.
'It was a fantastic effort - particularly when you consider what we had to go through at Stamford Bridge a few days ago.'
