'If It's Football, It's Vital'

What the bosses said

Wigan Athletic and Liverpool managers Steve Bruce and Rafa Benitez had differing thoughts following last nights match at Anfield.

Lets see what they had to say about the game:

Latics boss Steve Bruce:

'It is always going to be difficult at Liverpool as they have world class players but for the last six weeks we have produced some good performances.'

'If we keep producing like that, who knows how far we can go.

'Since I took over we have played five of the top ten teams and we have amassed a few points to get ourselves out of the relegation zone.

'Six weeks ago I thought we were in danger of becoming marooned if we had not started to pick up results, we were just two points ahead of Derby.

'But we have now forced ourselves out of the bottom three and we intend to stay out.'

'It gives everyone a huge lift. We were really disciplined and stuck to the game plan well.

On Titus Bramble Bruce said:

'I have always liked Titus, he just needs a bit of confidence and he will only get better.

'Titus has had some unfair treatment over the last few years, people forget that he is still only a young lad and had been playing centre-half for a top side, so he has not been that bad,'

'He has done well for me, he is a good defender who has had far too much unfair stick over the years.

'That's two in two for him and I could not be more pleased with him.'

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez:

'We need to do almost everything perfect now but if you lose points like this it makes it more difficult.

'When you have chances you need to take them and finish the game.

'We created chances, but we needed to take them,'

'Wigan defended and used the long ball, it got them their goal. I am really disappointed.

'It is really disappointing, it's another game when we had plenty of possession but needed a little luck too.'

So Bruce cocka hoop whilst Benitez bemoans his luck.
