Latics Join the Chase for Murphy

Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce is the latest manager to show more than just a passing interest in Hibernian left back David Murphy but there is competition from both Celtic and Rangers

Sky sports report that Murphys agent, our old friend Willie McKay, revealed that the Latics had been in touch with Hibs and made a positive enquiry about the availability of Murphy.

McKay also revealed that he knew Steve Bruce is an admirer of his player and that with the Latics being in the hunt for a left back a deal maybe in the offing.

23 year old Hartlepool born Murphy joined Hibs from Middlesbrough in 2004 and he has been one of their most consistence performers over the past two seasons
