Valencia at Wigan for keeps

Wigan Athletic Ecuador international Antonio Valencia penned a 3½ year permanent transfer to the Latics from Spanish club Villareal

Valencia has been on loan at Wigan since the start of the 2006-07 season and a fee believed to be around the £3.5 million mark was set in place for a permanent deal with that option now taken up

Valencia said about the deal that he always wanted to play in England and the Latics gave him his chance so he was only too willing to repay the club by signing a permanent deal

Steve Bruce said that he knew all about Valencia before he came to the Latics but having worked with him day to day he said it was imperative that he got him signed because he is fantastic.

Good deal for the Latics?
