Player Report Wigan Vs Everton

Player Report Wigan Vs Everton

Match analysis provided by sprayzen, Vital Wigans Australian commentator

Kirkland made some good saves but the 2 goals scored weren't in anyway his fault

Melchiot solid at the back and his combination with Valencia is vital, he had a great chance but didn't read the play in the 1st half

Scharner didn't notice him much at all, he did make some great diving tackles especially late in the game and apart from that not noticed much at all

Bramble well a game he will want to forget, his 2nd half was alot better and was the Bramble we know, problem was the 2nd half is the old Bramble and well he costed us points today unfortunatley

Kilbane tries and tries but isn't a LB, time for Edman and hopefully the dominance down that side of the park stops

Valencia our best today, his spark, speed and tried all game, needs to work on his crosses and we need to work on our urgency in the box because if we do that goals will come

Brown solid and worked hard, needs to stop having shots he wastes the ball in good positions when he is selfish, he is good for 2-3 poor shots agame of late and needs to stop turning possesion over that easily

Landzaat not his best game today, was dominated against

Palacios showed some positive signs in attack, he has speed and very good footwork, needs to work on his crosses and his endurance but that will come with time

A definate talent and if he and Valencia can play to their potentional or close enough week in week out thats some nice attacking options out wide.

He was very unlucky not to have been given a penalty in the box in the 2nd half, Everton played him and not the ball

Heskey was poor I thought today, he appears to be shot shy and is more focussed on pushing the ball onto other players instead of taking it himself

Bent hardly got any ball, had a header pushed onto the bar by Howard but apart from that wasn't seen much

Koumas made an imediate impact with his cross but aside from that look sluggish, match unfit and a player needing a big confidence lift

Sibs tried but with limited chances and a lack of pace wasn't able to cause much trouble

Aga who? for some reason we put 3 strikers on and all of a sudden our attack doesn't go forward, we really need a midfeilder who attacks in the middle of the park and not out wide

In Summary

We dominated the game and should of done alot better, our possesion and field possition was good except for the lack of ball into the box which needs to be addressed

We need to work on our crosses and players running into the box

We create plenty of space out wide just no options for the guys in the middle when they need to cross the ball into the box

What could have been if only our mistakes didn't cost us in the 1st half

koumas looks like a player on the out, best to sell him and spend his money on a striker and midfielder who will give 100% and give us consistant options

koumas looked poor again, failed to make any sort of impression except the free kick. valencia and palcios where fantastic, gave us real width to stretch the everton defence
