Steve Bruce - Make mine a double

Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce is a delighted manager with two of his players, Emile Heskey and Chris Kirkland, being called up to Fabio Capello's first England squad.

Heskey returns to the squad after being out for most of the season with a foot injury though he was very good in the early part of the season, since his return Heskey as not scored for the Latics

Kirkland will be hoping to add to his cap and put behind him the years of niggling injuries that proved to be a nightmare not only to his international but also to his club career

Bruce said he was pleased for the pair and that it was also a great honour for the club, Bruce also said that he suspected that David Beckham would be devastated at not being given the opportunity to reach 100 caps after being left out of the squad by Capello

I'm really happy for both Heskey and Kirkland. Heskey looked finished but he's defied his critics and Kirkland has managed to stay injury-free-ish recently.
