Wigan Athletics match day coverage on the clubs official website was in danger of being charged under the trades description act following the departure of Media Manager Matt McCann to Derby County.

McCanns commentaries are legendary in Wigan and he would be a hard act to follow and so this proved correct

Geoff Lea took over match commentary and more people were switching off than were actually subscribed to listen in the first place.

Following a flood of complaints about the appalling broadcasts that were being made the club had to do something and so they did with the appointment of the wonderfully named Graham Lovett.

This is what the official site had to say:

'The highly experienced broadcaster GRAHAM LOVETT has joined the match day Wigan Athletic live experience and will be the voice of Latics EXCLUSIVELY on WIGAN ATHLETIC WORLD's live commentary.

Graham will be joined by match day summariser Geoff Lea, starting with the crunch game at the Stadium of Light against fellow relegation battlers Sunderland on Saturday afternoon, the kick off is at 3.00pm.

Lovett has a tremendous broadcasting voice and has that rare ability of bringing sporting action to life.

He said: 'I'm really excited at the prospect of joining the Latics team. What this club has achieved over the past few years is phenomenal and I'm really looking forward to playing my part for Latics fans everywhere.

If you're not lucky enough to be able to attend the games yourself, I want to try and conjure all the excitement, tension and entertainment of live Premiership football.''
