Think we proved tonight we can cope without Powell. Might be better if we were less dependent on one player as we then move the be around more instead of just looking for the one player to create something.

Not better without Powell he creates moments nobody else in the team can. I read that bradford had a bid accepted but Wigan might match it. Then it will be down to Mellor to choose if we do match it.

The problem with playing Powell is that he is a marked man. Most teams double up on him and persistently foul him. He is a great talent, but all talent can be snuffed out if you mark him tightly enough. Perhaps without him in the team opposition players and managers will be confused and we can take advantage of this. I for one certainly hope we can hold on to him as I believe in the right games he can be a match winner, however I don't think we should be totally reliant on one creative player.

Looks like the bradford bid for Mellor was not accepted after all. I wonder what is holding it up.....

Powell played just as well against Bournemouth at Dean Court. I wonder how Roberts would get on against a team who park the bus like Powell has to deal with every home game. My suspicion is nowhere near as well. Plus the opposition wouldn’t be so s**t scared of him that they have to double mark him like they do Powell.

Reports from the south west have linked us with a move for Yeovil Town midfielder Otis khan. Manager Darren Wray expects the former Manchester United trainee to move in this transfer window but only after ther 4th round F A Cup tie against his former club. Khan is out of contract in the summer and has netted 10 goals this season.

I remember getting slaughtered on here by Moonay for saying Barrigan would never make it here after the Oldham League Cup game under Caldwell. Sad for Gregory pretty sure he’s a Latics fan, used to ballboy for us years ago I think.

And the "slaughtering" was (probably) right C_Latic. I don't actually recollect the episode myself, but I presume that I objected to you running down the performance and/or potential of a young lad, who was working very hard to become a professional footballer for Wigan Athletic.

Some young lads make it ......some don't. Some flatter to deceive, some don't live up to initial promise and some get rejected before coming good later on elsewhere.

Do I take it that you're gloating that "you were right" about the release of this young lad? If so, that says a lot mate. I've no idea what job you do, but happen you should be putting yourself forward to Cooky as talent spotter - or at least, no-talent spotter - extraordinaire.
