Titus Bramble is returning to Ipswich tonight for the first time since he left Portman Road to sign for Newcastle United back in 2002 for the tune of £5 million
Bramble has since signed for the Latics but this will be a special evening for the big fellow has he returns home and I have no doubt that he will want to make an impression tonight, lets hope it`s a good one.
There is a father and son connection to this game also with Latics boss` son likely to feature in the Ipswich team we will have Bruce against Bruce, lets hope that dad comes out on top.
With Steve Bruce stating that he wants a cup run for the Latics expect a fairly strong side but the manager will also have one eye on Sundays clash with Manchester City at the JJB
There could be a debut for Ghanaian international keeper Richard Kingson who incidentally let in 5 for the reserves against Crewe last week and there could also be a return to first team duty for Ryan Taylor who has yet to feature this season following a preseason injury
What ever the starting line up I feel that the Latics will be too strong for Ipswich and we should comfortably go through in 90 minutes
Latics boss Steve Bruce:
'It's a game we definitely want to win. The club got to the final a few seasons ago and it would be great to have a run like that again.'
Ipswich boss Jim Magilton:
'Confidence and self belief is building within the squad and to this end it will not be a bad thing to make a change or two.
'We want to keep our current run going. We are unbeaten in three games. We want to keep our current run going. We are unbeaten in three games.'
Pablo Counago is out after getting injured in training and Jon Stead is cup-tied.
Just got to be the son of the opposing manager to keep your eye on tonight
Erik Edman still out with long term knee injury, Zaki recovered from calf strain but not expected to be risked, Michael Brown given compassionate leave following the birth of his baby
Possible Latics team
Taylor, Bramble, Scharner, Kilbane,
DeRidder, Cattermole, Koumas, Kapo,
Making a return to his home town club for the first time in 6 years since he left, Titus will want to make an impression
Ipswich 2-1 Latics
Mike Dean (Wirral) Probably travelled down on the Latics team coach
Latics to win 2-0
