Manchester United are in town as they attempt to strengthen their grip at the top of the Premier League table, a win would leave Fergies men needing just one point from their remaining 2 games to retain their title.
Standing in their way, the Latics, the team sat at the bottom of the form table with just one win in the last 6 games
What`s happened to our season?
With both Bruce and Whelan claiming that we don`t want European qualification is it any wonder that the season has just frittered away with the players not wanting to get 'stuck in` with the objective achieved of Premier League survival for another year.
This is a game that many Wiganers look forward to each season and we expect our team to compete but with the way we have been capitulating recently (Everton, Arsenal and West Brom) I am actually fearful of a real drubbing in this match.
Lets hope that the lads can turn in a performance and give the home fans and the Scousers something to cheer.
Latics boss Steve Bruce:
"It could have been a great season. But with three games left maybe this match is something that will bring the best out of us"
"But there is an honesty about The Premier League. People will give everything, the honesty of the league demands that.
"We are expected to put on a performance. We did last season at this same time against United when they won the title here. But we should have had a penalty, a blatant one from Rio [Ferdinand], and that could have made a difference.
'But we gave them a hell of a game then and we will do the same this time.'
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson:
"Bruce has built a powerful team"
"Though they got a bad start to the season, they came with a great rattle and got themselves into a good position.
"Since January, it was a loss for them to have to sell Wilson Palacios but they've had a very successful season and Brucey has done a great job."
Chris Kirkland and Amr Zaki are both out, Mike Pollitt and Richard Kingson battle for a start between the sticks.
Latics from:
Pollitt, Melchiot, Figueroa, Edman, Boyce, Bramble, Scharner, Valencia, Koumas, De Ridder, Cattermole, Brown, Watson, N'Zogbia, Kapo, Zaki, Mido, Rodallega, Sibierski, Kingson.
Will the talented wide man turn it on against the team he is exoected to join in the summer?
Ferdinand and Evra are both struggling with niggles
Manchester United from:
Van der Sar, Rafael Da Silva, Vidic, Evans, O'Shea, Evra, Ronaldo, Scholes, Fletcher, Giggs, Park, Rooney, Berbatov, Tevez, Kuszczak, Neville, Carrick, Nani, Foster.
Best player in the world? Probably
