Norwich Vs Latics Preview

Roberto Martinez takes his Wigan Athletic side on the long trip to East Anglia to face League 1 side Norwich City with the focus very much on two weeks today and Aston Villa

Coming off the back of a very positive result at Deepdale on Tuesday the Latics manager must be delighted with how his side is shaping up, the football at times was sublime and the passing was slick, movement excellent and scoring four goals at one of the Championship`s top clubs not a bad feat for any side.

Martinez said that although the result was pleasing it was getting the players match fit and ready for the big kick-off was what he wanted from the game and he goes into today saying exactly the same thing.

So we can expect changes at half-time and maybe an appearance from James McCarthy who has yet to feature since his move south from Hamilton, but as long as they keep playing football like they did at Preston then we are in for a treat.

What the bosses say:

Latics boss Roberto Martinez:

'Norwich is going to be another opportunity to carry on with our work in a fantastic environment, a really nice place to go'

Norwich boss Bryam Gunn

'From our confidence point of view we're gaining from the fact we've been playing well, and worked hard in games'

'If we can gain more against a Premiership side like Wigan then I see that as a better way of going into the Colchester game than going in after a bad performance. I expect our players to go out, perform to the best of their ability and achieve a winning result if we can.

Norwich City Team News:

Michael Nelson and Rhoys Wiggins are definitely out

Simon Whaley has a dead leg, Adam Drury and Grant Holt sore feet but all three should be ok

Player to watch: Jamie Cureton

Been around the block so to speak amd 34 at the end of August but always been impressed with Cureton, fast, direct and knows where the goal is

Wigan Athletic Team News:

Marlon King has been conspicuous by his absence and still no ews on the want away striker, new young signing James McCarhy could feature at some point today

Player to watch: Hendry Thomas

Settling in to the Latics way now and begining to look a class act

Any Previous?

In the 1986-87 FA Cup 4th round the Latics (division 3) beat a top flight Norwich 1-0 at Springfield Park thanks to Paul Jewell goal

Match Prediction:

Heart says another 4-1 Latics win

Head says....another 4-1 Latics win
