Palace v Latics Preview

Roberto Martinez will undoubtedly give his squad players a run out in this competition so expect a much changed side from Saturdays defeat at Manchester City.

Last season the Latics made it to the quarter finals of the competition before falling to Arsenal, another run this season would bring a nice distraction to the hum drum of the Premier League

Latics boss Roberto Martinez:

'I see the Carling Cup as a really exciting competition.

'We want to progress as far as we can and make sure we use these games as a really strong internal competition for places.

'We have got really good talent in the squad.'

'I have been watching Crystal Palace for a while now, not just this season.

'They are really well organised. They have a good balance in their squad with experience and exciting young talent.

A chance for some of the Palace youngsters to have a run out, Nathaniel Clyne and Kagisho Dikgacoi definitely out, Owen Garvan and Alex Marrow doubtful

Wigan Athletic Team News:

Expect a few changes, former Palace men Moses, Watson and Boyce all expected to sit this one out
