Latics v Man City Preview

The Latics entertain the league leaders tonight when Manchester City travel 15 miles down the East Lancs Road in a clash that has great importance to both clubs

Whilst City have aspirations of clinching the Premier League title, the Latics are desperately attempting to defy the odds and remain a top flight club for an eighth consecutive season

Of course whatever the result tonight no honours will be settled, but a win for the Latics and they climb out of the bottom three, City on the other hand are looking to consolidate their position at the top of the pile.

Both clubs are missing midfield powerhouses, Momo Diame (Latics) and Yaya Toure (City) have gone to participate in the ACN at a crucial time in the season, and I suspect both will be sorely missed by their clubs.

What The Bosses Say:

Latics boss Roberto Martinez:

'We need three points'

'We're well into the second-half of the season with 18 games still to go, and we must view every match as a unique opportunity to collect points.

'I've said before that we're still catching up to the points target I feel we should be at by now, but in the last nine games we've shown a completely different level of performance to earlier in the campaign and that's what we have to continue with.

'Manchester City are a very strong side as we know, but we're playing at home and we'll rely on the fans to make this a very competitive game because on our day we know we can take on anybody.'


Manchester City assistant boss David Platt:

'Wigan have picked up just recently in terms of the points they have taken'

'They will be full of energy and will try and take the game to us. We know it will be difficult.'

I hope you are wrong Warbo and I dson't want Wigan to get relegated I think there are a lot worse teams that the Latics in this league, but tonight lets hope there are no controversial Refereeing decisions for either side.

Yeah, what Buzz said^^^ Here's to a game with no clangers from the ref - let the football do the talking. Oh, and of course a 0-2 win for the away side. ;)

Same old story again last night... starting to get a boring feel to it right now. Ah well, lets hope we can do something over QPR. I have a good feeling about the game on Saturday.
