The Latics travel the 15 miles to Ewood Park this evening knowing that a point will be enough to secure Premier League football for another season whilst Blackburn face the prospect of a win not being enough to get them out of the mire
The Latics are in great form at the moment, to carry that form just one more game will be enough for party time at the DW next Sunday when Wolves turn up for the final game of the season
Blackburn played dire at Spurs last time out, the consolation for them is, they can`t be as bad again, can they?
Latics will be cheered on by a sell out away end, if they do stop Blackburn from gaining three points it will be the third time in three seasons that the Latics have relegated a club, following on from West Ham 2011 and Hull City 2010
Latics boss Roberto Martinez:
'From our point of view we know that the next two games are vital for us. We can't look or rely on elsewhere because in football, when you rely on other results, nine out of 10 don't go your way.
'We understand what we have to do. We need to prepare for the game on Monday and make sure we are refreshed and ready for that. It's not a moment to look elsewhere - it's a moment to look into ourselves and get as many points as we can.
'When we finish the season, then we can start assessing how everything went.'
'We look at the six points we have left to fight for and we will give everything we've got. Both games we've got left are very important. They are both very different and we need to make sure we're as good as we can be.'
Blackburn boss Steve Kean:
'I'm confident we can beat Wigan and take it to the final game at Chelsea.'
'We need to make sure we start the game brighter than the last one. Tottenham had chances particularly in the first few minutes and we got pegged back.
'But we have to improve on that performance as we have another big game against Chelsea coming. We can't perform the way we did against Tottenham as that's unacceptable.'
Hanley is out but Olsson and Orr could be fit to start
Blackburn from - Robinson, Olsson, Dann, Givet, Orr, Dunn, Formica, Olsson, Pedersen, Nzonzi, Lowe, Yakubu, Modeste, Rochina, Goodwillie, Hoilet
17 goals in a struggling team says it all, a real threat
Latics have a clean bill of health, so expect an unchanged side from the one that thrashed Newcastle last time out
Latics probable - Al-Habsi, Boyce, Caldwell, Alcaraz, Figueroa, Beausejour, McCarthy, McArthur, Moses, Maloney, Di Santo
