Latics travel to Blackpool for today's live televised lunchtime game, looking for their first points and first goal on the road since the opening day of the season, with the squad refreshed and a large following from the fans, this could be a real chance to get the away days back on track
Blackpool are no mugs under Paul Ince though, unbeaten at home this season, indeed just one defeat from their opening eleven games sees the Tangerines sitting in 6th spot in the table, but they haven't won in four, their last two games both ended 0-0 and Paul Ince has been given a five game stadium ban which starts today, maybe a real opportunity for the Latics
The international break will hopefully have benefitted Owen Coyle's squad, enabled some tired muscles to be rejuvenated ahead of the next hectic schedule and with the likelihood that Grant Holt will be available for selection, a timely boost to the Latics attack
A tough game in store, but if we want to force our way into the top slots in the table then these are the games that we should be picking up points in, the promise of a very exciting game with a great atmosphere, I can't wait
Latics boss Owen Coyle:
'We're going there to be really positive in our play and being another derby we're excited about the atmosphere inside Bloomfield Road, especially with over 2,000 Wigan Athletic supporters getting behind us.
'They'll be behind us once again being very vocal I'm sure, and so what we have to do is produce a performance worthy of that support.'
'Blackpool have done very well in the early stages of the season and have a very good home record. But we know that if we to the best of our ability then regardless of who we play and where we play we're capable of winning games and that's how we'll approach the match.
'I know Paul very well and Alex Rae his assistant as well.
'They'll have their team well drilled throughout the week with the intention of maintaining their home form.
'Time will tell what effect it has on the team, but I expect them to be fired up looking for a scalp as every team who has faced us so far this season has.'
Blackpool boss Paul Ince:
'Expectations can get high. Against Bolton there was a little bit of apprehension maybe in the stands.
'But people need to realise where we are and how far we've come. When the fans are like they can be, there is no better place to be.
'The support is so important to the lads, it really is. We need the supporters at home.
'The atmosphere will be brilliant on Saturday and we will be reacting to the fans.'
'When you look at their (Latics) squad, they're all very good players, it's going to be a tough game
'But we're not fazed by anyone, we've got a fantastic home record and if we play our game the we have a chance of beating anyone'
Barry Ferguson and Bob Harris are both out, plus manager Paul Ince starts his five game stadium ban
