Latics v Burnley Preview

One good thing about Championship football, there's no time to sulk, the games come thick and fast, following the damp squib that was the Boxing Day bore draw with Birmingham, there is an opportunity to serve up a feast in this afternoons Lancashire hotpot when the Latics face Burnley.

This week Uwe Rosler bemoaned the injuries to his players that are also coming thick and fast at the moment, Thomas Rogne suffering what appeared to be a groin injury in the Birmingham game will be joined on the sidelines with Jean Beausejour who picked up his fifth booking of the season, so there will be at least two changes ahead of today's game.

Burnley's blistering early season form has seen a bit of a blip lately, just two wins from their last nine games and defeat on the road at Middlesbrough last time out, but they haven't been in the top two all season for nothing and they will be a real test this afternoon

Latics though must make the DW Stadium a real fortress if we are to challenge in the second half of the season, with 25 games left to play, now would be a great time to make our mark

Wigan Athletic Team News:

Jean Beausejour misses the game through suspension, but Ben Watson is available again after his one match ban

Shaun Maloney, Juan Carlos Garcia, Nick Powell, Scott Crason and Thomas Rogne are all sidelined with injury

Latics possible - Al Habsi, Ramis, Barnett, Shotton, Crainey, Watson, McArthur, McCann, McClean, McManaman, Holt

Player to watch: Chris McCann

McCann has been in good form of late and playing against his former club could also spur him on

Ben Mee missed out on Boxing Day with an injury and news is awaited on his chances of facing Wigan. Danny Lafferty stood in at left back against Boro and to be honest looked somewhat shaky and error prone. Alex Cisak was also suffering from illness and was replaced by Nick Liversedge on the bench at the Riverside. Dean Marney and Jason Shackell also appeared to pick up knocks during the Boro game but hopefully they will now have had time to recover.

Ross Wallace remains the only injured player and he is on track to make a comeback in the early New Year. He continues to recover from surgery a few months back to fix a 'wear and tear' injury to his knee.

Player to watch: Danny Ings

David Jones maybe the returning former player but Ings is the divisions form striker
