Wigan in Town

Halifax Town
vs.
Wigan Athletic

The Shay

28th July 2007

3 pm

The next installment of Latics pre-season schedule sees Chris Hutchings side travel to the Shay and face conference side Halifax Town.

With just two more fixtures after this one before the season starts, the fine tuning now needs to be taking place

Vital Quotes:

The Latics face a Halifax Town side that had a dissapointing campaign last term finishing 16th in the Conference, but the Shay was a hard place to come with Halifax having the 3rd best home record in their league

Halifax Town Team News:

Ex-Latics keeper Lee Butler is now the assistant manager at Halifax

Player to watch: Steve Torpey

Torpey was last seasons joint top scorer at the Shay with 7 goals.

Also look out for Lewis Killeen who was voted Halifax player of the season last year, the 24 year old plays in attack or midfield

Wigan Athletic Team News:

Latics take a strong squad on the short journey accross the Pennines with only long term casualties Fitz Hall and Ryan Taylor not available

It will be interesting to see if Leighton Baines plays any part today with his proposed move to Everton in the offing

Player to watch: David Cotterill

The young Welshman has been on fire so far this pre-season and he will be hoping to carry his good form through to the new season and force his way into the Latics starting 11
