'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Leeds United vs. Wigan Athletic

Elland Road

4/8/2007

3pm

Last Friendly for Latics

Wigan Athletic take on Leeds at Elland Road today with the Yorkshire club very much in decline both on and off the pitch

Yesterday`s news that they had been 'docked` 15 points before the new season starts must have felt like a hammer blow to the fans

Leeds fall down the tables has been as meteoric as Latics climb up them

Since the end of last season Leeds have lost vital players, David Healey, Robbie Blake and Richard Cresswell have all gone and due to the financial restraint manager Dennis Wise has been unable to bring in any hew blood

Mega problems for the Yorkshire club but in football the talking is done on the pitch and true gritty War of the Roses is hopefully on the cards toady

Leeds United Team News:

The news in Leeds is dominated by the 15 point deduction and it appears they have forgotten there is a game today

Player to watch: Ken Bates

Ex Latics board member and catching the flack for the way he 'rescued' this once great club

Wigan Athletic Team News:

Antoine Sibierski should feature at some point in todays game

It will be interseting to see who plays at left back

My money is on Melchiot or Boyce

Player to watch: Jason Koumas

Making the Latics midfield his own at the moment

Just carry this form into the new season Jason

Should be another good work out for the lads this afternoon. Wouldnt be surprised if the Latics gave them a good tonking with all the problems they're having
