'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Oldham Athletic 1 - Wigan Athletic 1

Boundary Park

20/07/10 7:30pm

Attendance:

Latics 1-1 Latics

Oldham Athletic 1-1 Wigan Athletic

The Latics vs the Latics ended in a draw in this preseason encounter with both sides treating the game more as a fitness builder than an indicator of the forth coming season with changes a plenty during the course of the game.

Oldham took the lead when Dale Stevens crashed home a delightful goal from the edge of the box on 18 minutes with a crisp shot that whistled past Latics debutant goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi into the bottom right hand corner of his goal.

At half-time Wigan brought on Mauro Boselli, James McCarthy, Hugo Rodallega and Jordi Gomez and within 2 minutes the changes had paid dividends when Gomez picked himself up after being flattened in the box to stroke home a penalty on 47 minutes.

Mauro Boselli hit the bar with a great strike later in the game but that was about it for the action, though Oldham manager Paul Dickov showed that he`d lost none of his stupidity when he brought himself on and was lucky to stay on following stamp on Antonio Amaya and a reckless challenge that cleaned out James McCarthy.

All in all a good work out for the lads

Latics first-half: Al-Habsi, Boyce, Golobart, Amaya, Mustoe; Diame, Sekou, N'Zogbia, Watson, Moses; Scotland

Latics second-half: Pollitt, Boyce, Amaya (Redmond, 78), Golobart, Mustoe, McCarthy, Sekou, Gomez, Lauren, Rodallega, Boselli

Subs: Serrano, Holt, Langley, de Ridder, Breeze, McManaman
