Latics 1-1 Everton

Latics took a point from the match with Everton, but with a little more awareness from the forwards, well one in particular, they could quite easily have wrapped the game up almost immediately after the opening goal.

Moses breaking with Rodallega to his right and an unmarked Crusat 16 yards out to his left opted not to pass, instead the youngster displayed the naivety of his youth and ran the ball into sole Everton defender Distin and what was a clear opening for either of his team mates was sadly lost in an instance.

A dull first half produced little in the way of goalscoring opportunities, Gomez hit a 25 yard free-kick just over the bar and that was about it, not much to warm the supporters of either side

The second half, although still lacking in much quality and clear chances did at least provide two goals, the first came on 76 minutes when Latics new signing Jean Beasejour whipped a wonderful low cross from the left, Everton defender Phil Neville got a touch on the ball and the deflection was enough to embarrass Tim Howard as the US international totally misjudged the flight of the ball, 1-0

Two minutes later and the Latics had a glorious chance to seal the points, a quick break saw Moses carry the ball into the Everton box, unfortunately he either didn`t see Crusat or Rodallega in support or he thought he could get the better of last man Distin, Moses is an excellent talent but his decision making at times is really poor

The inevitable Everton equaliser came on 83 minutes, a Baines corner was knocked back out to the former Latics left back, he swung the ball back into the area and Everton sub Victor Anichebe, on the pitch just two minutes, met the ball with a thundering header that left Al-Habsi with no chance, if only we had a player that could attack the ball like that in the box, 1-1.
