Pen Pic

Towering goalkeeper with a big future in the game who joined the Latics in October 2006 from Liverpool after a successful loan spell at the JJB Stadium.

The former England Under-21 international signed for the Reds from Coventry City in August 2001.

Spent 2005/06 season on loan at West Bromwich Albion, but played only 10 games in an injury-hit campaign which ended in relegation.

Tremendously agile for his height, with safe hands and ever-growing confidence.

Rated as one of the best young goalkeepers in the country.

If Kirks stays fit then the Latics have one tremendous keeper between the sticks.

At the end of the 07/08 season, Chris Kirkland signed a four year deal with Wigan Athletic that sees him commit to the club until 2012.
