Ecuador midfielder arrived at the JJB Stadium in August 2006 on a year-long loan deal from Villarreal.

Joined the Spanish club in 2005, but had a spell on loan with Recreativo Huelva.

Able to play in the centre or on the right wing, Valencia combines speed and skill going forward with high work-rate tracking back.

Earned 19 international caps before turning 21, netting two goals on his senior debut against Paraguay.

Featured in the 1-0 second-round defeat to England during World Cup 2006.

Played a prominent part for Ecuador in the Copa America 2007 tournament
