Versatile midfielder or forward signed from Newcastle United in June 2007.

The Frenchman enjoyed one highly successful season on Tyneside after his free transfer from Manchester City before Latics boss Chris Hutchings offered him the chance to move nearer his north-west home.

Before arriving in England with City, he had spells in his homeland at Lens, Lille, Auxerre and Nantes, for whom he scored four Champions League goals.

A dangerous player going forward, Sibierski scored 12 times in Le Championnat in the 2002/03 season for Lens.

The Frenchman has also skippered Lens and won the French Cup with them.

Creative and skilful, Sibierski is comfortable as a playmaker, winger or striker.

Sibierski will make a good addition to the Latics squad and hopefully he will become a fans favourite even though he famously took a dive when playing at the JJB to earn Newcastle a penalty last season
