The pacy striker, perhaps best known for his flamboyant goal celebrations, arrived at the JJB from Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2007.

He rose to prominence at Tunisian club Esperance where he helped them win their domestic title and get to the African Champions League final.

He then moved to Shakhtar where, in seven years, he won three Ukrainian titles.

Aghahowa, also firmly established at international level with Nigeria, made his Latics debut in a 1-0 over Portsmouth just days after signing for the club.

Made just 6 appearances in his debut season
