Whatever the reasons behind the prospective move and it appears lack of money/cost cutting is a principle factor,the drawn out will he/won't he go may impact on transfers, contract signings and season ticket sales.

Regarding transfers, highly rated Matthew Bates was apparently lined up by Steve Bruce to sign from Middlesboro'. This move now appears on hold due to the managerial uncertainty and West Ham are now rumoured to be moving in on the highly rated 22 year old.

Whilst both young Tomasz's Kupisz and Cwyka ,along with Mike Pollitt have penned new deals this week the key players such as Scharner, Bramble and Boyce remain unsigned . All three have twelve months left on their contracts and have been attracting attention from other clubs.
No one could blame them for waiting to see who the new manager will be and if the rumours of a wage bill cut is in the offing they may decide to look elsewhere, which will severely weaken the team.

Much is made of Wigan's cheap season ticket prices and whilst this is true, the fans, most of whom live in the WIgan enviromens, in one of the poorest boroughs in the country do not have much disposable income.

As such, a sale of their most prizable assets is not going encourage season ticket renewals. Already I have spoken to several fans who are deferring renewing their season tickets, in a 'wait and see' exercise based on manager and playing squad.

A sale of players plus a cheap managerial option, is not going to persude fans to pay up front with some opting to pick their games.

The lack of any official statement from the club ,on either its website or by any other media outlets is more reminescent of the Kremlin in the 70's rather than a football club.

Once again, Wigan is looking more like a Northern Premier League club off the pitch, rather than a Premier League club.

I agree, end the saga now. Hopefully, it'll all be sorted by next week but personally, I think DW has run his course and we need new owners... Despite the good job DW has done, as long as he is in charge, as someone else said, it'll always be business before Wigan and that'll ultimately work against us. Time for some freshness now, I think.

Ive renewed my season ticket, its the club I support, maybe Whelan had a scare this seaspn with us almost qualifying for Europe!

This whole saga has sickened me, If Bruce goes we will be in a relegation battle if he stays were does that leave him with the fans. Whatever happens no Paul Jewell.

it bugs me this Bruce is obviously sick of being here so just get rid of him and give the 3 million to swansea for Martinez not do the cheap option and if paul jewell comes then we will go down and do a derby Whelan has to get it into his head that we have to pay money to do well at the end of the day the truth is Martinez will be a step down from Bruce but the love from the fans of when he was a player will uplift the club i just hope bruce doesnt take cattermole, bramble and others with him theres a point when whelan has to say no!

I don't think Bramble would go back to the North East after what happened to him at Newcastle. Most players probably live in Newcastle so it would be a lot of stick I imagine. I guess I would be worried about Cattermole leaving. I think Cho is just as good if not better at present. Cho Watson and Thomas in the middle are all pretty good. We need to sort it out though soon!
