'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A postcard from Austria

Todays game was played at midday in blistering heat which didn't help Latics.

The game was refereed by a female ref which was a first for the Latics.

Latics didn't play well, Martinez employed a back four, two central midfielders and two wingers with an attacking midfielder sitting behind a striker.

It was a poor first half and Latics could have been easily five down at half time.

Of the new players Thomas was workmanlike and although Latics only had a few half chances it looks like Gomez will score a few.

Of the exisitng players, Cattermole was by far the best and De Ridder doesn't look good enough.

Not too worried yet as the game had the feel of a training game rather than a real match.

Thanks to very bitter blue for his text updates.
