What Vital Latics fans are saying about Wigan's fixtures
Latics' fixtures for the forthcoming League One season were announced yesterday, and as expected, the Vital Wigan forums have been alive with comments on the subject.

It's MK Dons away followed by Bury at home to kick off the league season, and GT1978 is less than impressed with the FA computer's random selection algorithm:

'A feeling this morning of total underwhelming mediocrity'

And he's not the only one bashing his dangling emoticons against the desk. Mighty Bongsmon, whose name is an obvious homage to Gaetan Bong, unwittingly stumbles upon the greatest Beamback conspiracy theory ever concocted:

'You do wonder what the schedulers think sometimes when they come up with these fixture lists. 6 midweek games scheduled & 4 of them are against the teams who are the furthest distance from us: Charlton, Plymouth, Gillingham & Bristol Rovers!!'

Oh dear, better not tell your boss about these midweek fixtures. I'd be writing out your '24 hour flu' sick notes well in advance if I were you.

The wonderfully named Bongsmon goes on to say who really misses out with so many late weekday evening kickoffs in far-flung parts of the country. Would you let your kids go to Gillingham on a stormy Tuesday night?

'It's not so much whether it reduces or increases the numbers likely to go but it does decrease the numbers who go ... If it has a marginal effect it's on the youngsters who don't go to local midweek away games but many of them don't go to midweek home games either.'

C-Latic has more encouraging news regarding Wigan's final game of the season, however.

'Doncaster away not bad although we're utter garbage there. They give big allocations if needed 4k+ so everyone who wants a ticket should get one.'

According to footballtripper.com, Donny initially allocate the Keepmoat's entire North Stand to away supporters - that's in excess of 3,300 seats, over a fifth of the stadium's entire capacity. Given a repeat of ticket uptake from Latics' previous League One campaign, you can expect that one to sell out well in advance of 5th May 2018.

Do you agree? Why not join the conversation about the newly announced fixture list? Visit the Vital Latics forum and make your own thoughts known!
